a celebration of royalty: durag excellence

I love New York. No, this is not a reference to the unfortunately entertaining tv show, or even the horribly corny tourist shirts that get slanged in the streets like wares from the elote mans truck. I love New York for the people who are unapologetically themselves, much like what you find in Oakland and parts of Los Angeles. A marker of this? People who have the temerity to wear their durags in public. I'm bald now, so the time for me to wear durags in anything but a symbolic manner is over (though if people are out here wearing glasses without the need for prescription, I am pretty sure I can bring out my old two-tone), but I appreciate the cultural significance of this accessory. Anyways, I was walking around New York taking photos of people wearing durags, because they're glorious and should be celebrated as markers of royalty.
